Two Way...Indeed

I'm new to this. ESPN the Magazine that is. Generally, I have been a dedicated Sports Illustrated guy for years, but that changed the day that Life of Reilly decided too. But it's Stuart Scott's Two Way column I'd like to address rather than Rick Reilly's, in the latest addition of the Magazine. Which, consequently, is on news stands now.
According to the description, in case your not familiar with Scott's column, it is "Stu's private chat room. You can holla at him...if you make the cut." Mike, from Oklahoma, made the cut and it's his question along with Stu's answer that had me thinking again...and SportsGhost Abstract was born.

Mike [Oklahoma]

That Mark McGwire is a coach for the Cards is ridiculous, Stuart. He should be banned from the game and his records expunged.

Stu: And who else's records would you expunge-those who admit to juicing or who test positive or just those who we think used? Look, everyone knows Hank Aaron hit 775 HR's, but can you tell me-quick!-how many McGwire hit, or even Barry Bonds? I wouldn't focus on records too much. Fact is, Mac's legacy is forever tarnished. But he knows how to hit and I've heard he is a dedicated teacher. So what's wrong with his having a job in baseball?

Where to begin. Honestly, I understand the question and the answer, but that doesn't mean that it makes much sense or is relevant. Here is the message being sent, unequivocally, with Mac's employment in place...MLB and the Cards do not care that he cheated, probably knew about it all along and have moved on. Seriously, was there ever a question that Big Mac was NOT juicing?

The real travesty comes in Scott's answer however and there is a real short rebut that makes what I am about to say, the REALITY...

"So what's wrong with his having a job in baseball?"

Everything.

Sosa Cheated, Mac cheated, Bonds cheated, Giambi cheated, Clemens cheated, need I go on, there are possible pages of names who have cheated. So, Stu, what's wrong with rewarding a guy who cheated at work, with a job at the work in which he cheated...Everything.
Logic like this, Stu, can't work unless you re-instate Pete Rose and put him in the Hall. I mean, he cheated too, but he knows how to hit and was a dedicated...hustler, right?

Did I make the cut?

Room at the top for one more retched blog?

With nary time to do little else but keep track of busy, I had a great idea to open a dedicated sports blog...again.

More to come in the up and coming days.

This blog will have the occasional rant, rave, cuss word and eventful debauchery, so stay tuned.
